There is an adage that says, “slow and steady wins the race!” Oftentimes, when starting a business, we tend to look to the left and right of us. We look to see what others are doing and the success they are having. When we do this, we lose sight of the road ahead. We start doubting our abilities and lose confidence. Never compare your business to someone else as you don’t have enough information to compare the two!
As an example, perhaps that business received funding to help build their brand. Perhaps it had a celebrity endorsement. Maybe they are in a sorority or fraternity which provided a built-in network or they appeared on a popular reality television show. Wink!
My point! You never know the full story.
When you learn to stay in YOUR lane and run YOUR race you begin to focus on the things that are in your control. Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to that business for advice or guidance. Clearly, you admire what they are doing! You don’t have to go about it alone! There are so many people out there that are waiting for your phone calls, emails, and DM’s. Join groups on Facebook and Clubhouse with like-minded people!
Drawing comparisons between your business and other businesses is like comparing apples and oranges. Your journey is unique and it’s important to honor your efforts and successes.
REMEMBER…
“ The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race!” Ecclesiastes 9:11
